AFLEX President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Discuss Strategic Initiatives for Leadership Development in Africa

The President of the African Leadership Excellence Academy convened a significant meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address key strategic initiatives to foster leadership development and unlock the potential of Ethiopia and the wider African continent.

During the meeting, Mr. Zadig Abreha, President of AFLEX, emphasized the paramount importance of a Leadership Development Program designed to cultivate future leaders equipped to tackle the complex challenges facing Africa today. The discussion highlighted a comprehensive three-year strategy formulated by the Academy to advance these goals.

Among the notable initiatives presented was the Africanization Initiative Project, aimed at tailoring programs to resonate with the unique cultural and socio-economic context of African nations. Additionally, the Academy introduced plans for a new Open African Department and an organizational restructuring aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and accessibility.

In response to the increasing need for advanced education, the Academy also announced the launch of a new Master’s Program, which will provide robust, flexible learning opportunities for aspiring leaders across the continent. Furthermore, the Academy is spearheading the African Davos Project, envisioned as a center for international conventions, facilitating dialogue and collaboration among global leaders on pressing issues.

Mr. Zadig also outlined efforts to unlock Ethiopia’s potential stressing the vital roles of education and leadership in driving national and regional growth.

In a show of support, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Taye Atsekesellase, expressed admiration for the Academy’s initiatives. The Minister underscored the importance of cooperation and partnership, stating, Together, we have the potential to bring about transformative change. I am fully committed to supporting the Academy’s initiatives and will work to serve as a bridge between the Academy and diplomatic societies, as well as potential donors.”

He further emphasized that embassies and diplomatic entities are obliged to collaborate with local institutions to build sustainable pathways for development. The Academy looks forward to solidifying its partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and fostering collaborative efforts that will enhance leadership capacities and contribute to the prosperity of the continent.
