
Training on the subject of “Transforming the Complex Dynamics and Dimensions of Horn Diplomacy/Regional Integration” was provided for diplomats by the Academy of African Leadership Excellence (AFLEX), in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the academy’s Sululita Town building’s main hall.
Belete Gatechew, a PhD candidate, provided clarification on Ethiopia’s connections to its neighbors and the larger Horn of Africa. He discussed the regional implications of the worldwide change in geopolitical power as well as the necessity of going back to Ethiopia’s well-known foreign policy tenets of principle and anticipation. The security of the nation should be protected by our diplomacy, he added in his statement.
The instructor encouraged them not to repeat their mistakes today and tomorrow by explaining that all Ethiopian governments had made mistakes in the past.
Participants engaged in a productive discussion during the training, and it was noted that both the discussion and the training were pertinent and helpful. H.E. Ambassador Fesseha Shawel, Director-General for African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the debate.
