The diplomats enrolled at the African Leadership Excellence Academy in Sululta benefited from the professional life experiences shared by H.E. President Sahle-Work Zewde and H.E. Dr. Mulatu Teshome, a former president. Some of the issues brought up and discussed by the two dignitaries and the participants included the significance of establishing a professional club that offers experience sharing opportunities for seasoned and young diplomats, encouraging Ethiopians to have employment opportunities in international organizations, establishing Ethiopia’s diplomacy in Africa, and encouraging women Ministry staff to take on leadership roles.
The session was moderated by H.E. Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He asserted that the training that the diplomats have so far received is the first of its type, opening the door for the institution to be built on a basis of competence and merit.
