The African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX) and Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council (ECSOC) are looking into areas of collaboration

The African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX) and Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council (ECSOC) are looking into areas of collaboration in order to address leadership gaps in the CSO sector.

This comes as the Executive Committee & Secretariat of ECSOC along with officials from the Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) toured around the facilities of the Academy that is situated in the outskirts of Addis Abeba around Sululta.

Program Sector Vice chief of Academy at AFLEX, Hiwot Alemayehu, said that work is underway to ensure that Pan-Africanism is augmented in the leadership courses being designed by the Academy.

Sharing her reflection following the tour around the facilities of the Academy, First Vice President of ECSOC, Tinebeb Berhane stated that the academy’s role in incubating the next generation of young leaders is particularly crucial in terms of including the CSO sector.

Deputy Director General of ACSO, Fassikaw Molla expressed that there is the desire to utilize the academy among CSOs in order to build the leadership capacity in the sector.

Executive Director of the Council, Henok Melesse for his part underlined that ensuring a synergy between the Civil Society sector and the Academy is essential in creating and developing the skills of young leaders.

Ato Henok also pledged the Council’s full support to further the vision of creating future young leaders within Ethiopia and the African continent.
