Over 150 civil society representatives attended the African Leadership Excellence Academy research forum

A research forum aimed at enhancing the role of civil society organizations

More than 150 local and foreign representatives of civil society organizations are participating in a research forum. The forum was held at the African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX).

Vice Chief of the African Leadership Excellence Academy, Hiwot Alemayehu, spoke at the event and said civil society organizations needed to work together to support leadership development initiatives. She emphasized the vital role civil society organizations play in achieving long-lasting peace, progress, and sustainable growth in Ethiopia and urged them to increase their involvement.

She continued by stating that civil society organizations must make an effort to undertake research, contribute to policymaking, and engage in scientific research in order to further the growth of the sector.

The leaders of this sector should be aware of its opportunities and gaps. The research forum aimed to strengthen the mission of civil society organizations and establish a mutual understanding of leadership ideas. Organizations must work together to improve the capacity development of leaders.

Research papers on leadership transition in the civil society sector, the role of civil society organizations in transitional justice, the role and challenges of civil society organizations in Ethiopia’s national dialogue process, and other related issues are currently being widely discussed.

The research forum is organized through a collaboration between the African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX) and the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council (ECSOC).
