The Public Leadership for Gender Equality workshop, held from October 9th to 11th at AFLEX Sululta, aimed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed to champion gender equality within their organizations.

This three-day workshop, co-organized by PL4GE and the Global Center for Gender Equality (GCFGE), represented a crucial step towards establishing a long-term gender transformative leadership program in Ethiopia.
The workshop’s opening address by Wondye Legesse (PhD), the Vice President of AFLEX, emphasized the importance of the training for both individual participants and the academy as a whole.
He stressed how the acquired skills would equip participants to become agents of change, creating a more equitable workplace environment.
Tifsehit Solomon (PhD), CEO for Policy, Strategy, Research, and Studies at the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs also stressed that this workshop was not just another training session but a crucial stepping stone towards building empowered leaders who would champion gender equality across various sectors, organizations, and communities.
The training was expertly facilitated by Jenn Donvile from the Global Center for Gender Equality and Meseret Legese, a Gender Consultant.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions, exercises, and presentations, delving into topics such as:

  • Understanding Gender Dynamics
  • Leadership and Gender Transformative Practices:
  • Developing Action Plans Participants worked together to identify practical actions they could implement in their workplaces to promote gender equality and create more inclusive work environments.
    The workshop concluded with a strong sense of optimism and a shared commitment to change.
    Participants were left equipped with valuable knowledge, practical tools, and a vision for advancing gender equality within their organizations.
    This workshop marked a crucial step in the establishment of a sustainable gender transformative leadership program in partnership with AFLEX, laying the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable future in Ethiopia.
