Road infrastructure is the breath of a nation, Says AFLEX President Zadig Abreha

ADDIS ABABA, July 19, 2025 (AFLEX) – Roads are the very breath of a nation, possessing both visible and invisible power, stated Ato Zadig Abreha, President of AFLEX.

The President delivered a training titled “Road infrastructure and Ethiopia’s Resurgence” to senior leaders, district directors, and experts from the Ethiopian Roads Administration (ERA).

ERA Director General Engineer Mohammed Abdurahman opened the session, expressing gratitude to Ato Zadig Abreha for dedicating his valuable time to train the administration’s leadership.

He added that the training, conducted at the beginning of the new fiscal year, would significantly enhance the capacity of the administration’s leaders and professionals.

Mr. Zadig elaborated on the contexts in which roads serve as the breath of a nation and a lasting legacy for future generations.

He explained, with examples, how roads act as an administrative tool that strengthens national unity and affirms government legitimacy.

“Roads aren’t just infrastructure; they’re foundational pillars that bind us as one nation.” Mr. Zadig emphasized.

He noted that road infrastructure is becoming a source of national pride by connecting and integrating neglected and forgotten areas.

Mr. Zadig recalled that some roads create opportunities for identity building, connecting generations, and establishing peace.

Drawing from international experiences and his own life, he shared insights on how people can achieve reconciliation not just through elders but also through roads.

Participants’ questions and comments during the training received thorough responses and explanations.
