AFLEX President Addresses Ethiopian Minerals Corporation Management on Future Development
Sululta, February 9, 2025 (AFLEX) – Mr. Zadig Abraha, President of AFLEX, conducted a training session for the management of the Ethiopian Minerals Corporation at the Academy’s Leadership Development Center today.
During the session, Mr. Zadig delivered an extensive presentation, focusing on the integration of current conditions and future prospects for the nation’s prosperity. He discussed the trajectory of global development and the various options available for Ethiopia.
Mr. Zadig noted that the 19th century marked a significant turning point in human civilization. In his analysis of the future of the mining sector,he cautioned that the demand for traditional mining practices, is likely to diminish over the next 20 to 30 years, because of emerging trends such as space mining, laboratory processing of natural minerals, climate change, and recycling, emphasizing the need for timely extraction and utilization of Ethiopia’s mineral resources.
He also provided insights into the concepts of developmental and entrepreneurial states, outlining their strengths and weaknesses. Mr. Zadig pointed out that countries adopting the developmental state model have historically achieved accelerated growth when faced with existential challenges. He remarked that, unlike South Korea and Taiwan, Ethiopia currently does not face an existential threat that would drive rapid development under this principle.
The training aimed to equip leaders with knowledge and strategies for navigating the evolving landscape of the mining industry and enhancing the country’s development.
