AFLEX Hosts Engaging Lecture on Public Diplomacy and Ethics

Sululta – 9 June, 2025 (AFLE) – AFLEX conducted a pivotal training session, focusing on the themes of public diplomacy and ethics.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Malta to Ethiopia and the EU delegation to Ethiopia, highlighting the significance of international cooperation in diplomatic education.

The lecture attracts a diverse audience, including AFLEX staff, H.E. Mr. Ronald Micallef, the Ambassador of Malta to Ethiopia, H.E. Mrs. Sofie From-Emmesberger, the Ambassador of the European Union to Ethiopia, and delegates from the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC).

Their presence underscores the importance of the topics being discussed and the collaborative efforts in fostering diplomatic skills.

Ms. Lourdes Pullicino, Senior Academician of Diplomatic Studies at MEDAC, delivers an informative lecture titled “Public Diplomacy: Increasing Influence with Limited Resources.”
In her presentation, she elaborates on the essence of public diplomacy, its defining characteristics, and strategies for effectively managing soft power in diplomatic efforts.

Additionally, Mr. Roger Tirazona from the Malta Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation provides valuable insights into ethics, sharing Malta’s journey in ethics education.

His discussion emphasizes the role of ethics in diplomacy and the necessity of fostering ethical standards in international relations.
