AFLEX Partners with Pan African Youth Union and Ethiopian Youth Council to Empower African Youth Leadership

Addis Ababa, February 20, 2025 (AFLEX) – AFLEX has officially entered into partnerships with the Pan African Youth Union (PAYU) and the Ethiopian Youth Council, signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) today at the SkyLight Hotel in Addis Ababa. These collaborations aim to enhance leadership development among African youth and address the challenges that hinder their full potential.

During the signing ceremony, AFLEX President Zadig Abreha highlighted Africa’s demographic advantage, stating, “Africa is a young continent in terms of demography. Amid a global demographic crisis, Africa stands as a beacon of hope with its vibrant youth.” He further emphasized the critical choices facing the continent’s youth: “The youth of Africa face a choice—seize the opportunity or miss it. We are here together, to empower African youth and transform the continent into a hub of innovation.”

Wiisichong Bening Ahmed, Secretary General of the Pan African Youth Union, underscored Ethiopia’s pivotal role in this initiative. He remarked, “Ethiopia is a key player in Africa’s development. Our continent requires skilled youth, and AFLEX provides targeted training to meet this need.” This partnership is expected to positively impact the lives of young Africans by equipping them with the necessary skills for effective leadership and innovation.

In a related development, AFLEX also formalized its collaboration with the Ethiopian Youth Council through an MoU. The partnership focuses on strengthening leadership development among Ethiopian youth and addressing pressing challenges they face.

Zadig Abreha reiterated the critical role of youth in shaping the nation’s future, saying, “Young people can play a pivotal role in transforming our country. We aim to develop youth who are both physically and mentally capable. Together, we are committed to bringing about meaningful change.”

Fuad Gena, President of the Ethiopian Youth Council, acknowledged the leadership gap within Ethiopia’s predominantly youthful population. He stated, “The majority of Ethiopia’s population is young, yet effective leadership remains a significant gap. Our collaboration with AFLEX will help bridge this gap through research and focused leadership training.”

These agreements signify a strategic commitment to fostering leadership skills and addressing the challenges faced by African youth. By leveraging the expertise of AFLEX, PAYU, and the Ethiopian Youth Council, the partnerships aim to create a sustainable framework for nurturing young leaders across the continent and paving the way for a brighter future.
