
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Nov 7, 2024. AFLEX and the FDRE Defense War College have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening leadership development in peace and security. This collaboration establishes a strategic framework for training, research, and analysis focused on critical geopolitical issues in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
Mr. Zadig Abreha, President of AFLEX, emphasized the immediate implementation of the agreement, stating, “This agreement should be considered as a memorandum of implementation as we are committed to implementing it effective immediately.” He acknowledged the Defense War College’s initiatives to cultivate effective military leadership.
Commandant B/General Bulti Tadesse highlighted the importance of civil-military cooperation, expressing enthusiasm for the partnership.
He stated, “The mission of the War College is to develop military leadership aware of war during peace times, requiring knowledge in strategic security studies. We believe AFLEX is the right academy to work with to succeed in this mission.”
The MOU outlines plans for a joint platform dedicated to peace and security, including tailored curriculum development and capacity building through the exchange of staff and experts. This collaboration represents a pivotal moment in the pursuit of leadership excellence in the region.
The partnership follows a month of discussions and reflects a shared commitment to fostering leadership excellence in military and strategic domains. The signing ceremony at AFLEX’s Addis Ababa office was attended by senior officials from both institutions.
