Consultative Discussion between AFLEX and Chinese Delegates

Dec 25, 2025 / ADDIS ABABA / AFLEX / A consultative discussion was held between AFLEX President, Mr. Zadig Abreha; Vice President, Mr. Wondye Legese; and the Chinese delegates from CIDAC, the China Embassy in Ethiopia, the Chinese Mission to the African Union, and the National Academy of Governance at the AFLEX Head Office.

The discussion aimed to strengthen collaboration and explore potential partnerships between the two parties. It highlighted two key areas of focus: human resource development and capacity building, and infrastructural development.

Mr. Zadig Abreha shared the academy’s recent initiatives, detailing its progress and successes. The Chinese delegates were briefed on AFLEX’s ongoing and future projects, especially its ambition to expand its influence in national and African training programs. There was a notable emphasis on forming partnerships with prestigious Chinese universities, such as Peking University and Tsinghua University, for experience-sharing and collaborative research.

Additionally, the president emphasized the importance of China’s support in expanding AFLEX’s infrastructure. This included potential collaboration on building new facilities and enhancing existing structures to accommodate the growing demand for training and capacity-building programs.

In response, Deputy Director-General Guan Zhiyoung of CIDAC expressed a strong willingness to collaborate with AFLEX. He shared the Chinese delegation’s intent to develop a comprehensive training project plan with AFLEX.

Moreover, he referenced President Xi Jinping’s leadership development initiatives across Africa. He also confirmed that China was eager to engage with AFLEX as part of the BRICS partnership, highlighting the importance of focusing on human resource development as a primary goal.

The discussion concluded with both parties expressing a shared commitment to strengthening ties and creating sustainable collaborations.
